Description

Kurukulla Thangka, Dakini Original Painting

In this thangka, a vivacious Kurukulla with four arms dances on the prostrate body of the demon of ignorance, shooting her flower bow and arrow. Kurukulla is a fierce red form of Tara, the dominator of all beings through control of the power of passion. She adopts the accoutrements of the Kama, the Indian Cupid, and strikes the hearts of egocentric beings with her flower arrows, just as he does. But unlike the Kama, she does not enslave beings to lust; rather by energizing their liberating insight into the nature of reality, she captivates their passions and turns them toward the realization of the Dharma.
"The entire universe is the mandala of the dakini.
The Mother's mandala is all phenomena,
the display of the wisdom dakini." ~Jigme Lingpa
