Namgyalma, Ushnisha Vijaya Dakini Thangka
Namgyalma, also known as Ushnisha Vijaya, is the goddess of longevity and purity in Tibetan Buddhism. As a Dakini of Long Life, she embodies the divine energy that removes impediments, eliminates karmic debts, and prolongs life. Her brilliant figure encourages devotion, promoting spiritual power, health, and vigor, and guiding practitioners to insight.
Namgyalma's three faces—white, yellow, and blue—stand for the three facets of time—past, present, and future—as well as her transcendental attributes. The three eyes on each face represent her omniscience and her capacity to see into every aspect of life. Namgyalma's eight arms hold numerous symbolic objects, including a dharma wheel, a vase of immortality, and a bow and arrow, representing her role in expelling negativity, bestowing longevity, and safeguarding sentient beings. A brilliant halo of light surrounds her, representing compassion and purity and providing followers with the benefits of an enlightened life and protection from harm.
