Otherwise known as Gonpo Panjaranatha, he was already popular among the Ningmapa lamas and probably occupied a central position among Indian experts as the guardian and archetype of a Buddhist deity. His Panjaranatha form was particularly important to the Sakya order. As a guardian(Dharmapala), Mahakala guards the teachings, the Dharma, particularly in relation to the Hevajra Tantra, the Vajra Panjara tantra, and the Paramasuka Chakrasamvara tantra. He typically serves advanced Buddhist practitioners, often known as tantric practitioners or adept, in their quest for enlightenment. This Mahakala thangka will be an ideal gift for practitioners!
