Authentic Second Buddha Rinpoche Thangka | Lotus Born Master | Tibetan Buddhism
This beautiful thangka of the Second Buddha Rinpoche is hand-painted on a fine cotton canvas, using vibrant acrylic colors and genuine 24K gold. The cotton base is gently prepared with a smooth gesso layer, creating a perfect surface for the intricate brushwork. The artwork is made in the traditional Karma Gadri style, known for its spacious composition, soft color gradients, and refined detailing. The bright acrylic colors add energy and durability, while the 24K gold highlights divine features such as ornaments, the aureole, and sacred tools. The finished piece is a glowing, multi-dimensional work of art that shines with spiritual significance and artistic excellence, reflecting centuries of Tibetan thangka workmanship.
In Tibetan Buddhism, Guru Rinpoche is revered as the Second Buddha. This master of Vajrayana Buddhism, credited with bringing Buddhism to Tibet in the eighth century, established the first monastery at Samye by controlling opposing forces. In this thangka, Guru Rinpoche is depicted seated calmly on a lotus and moon disc, symbolizing purity and enlightened awareness. He wears the lotus hat, decorated with a vulture feather and a half-vajra, indicating his mastery over space and time. In his left hand, he holds a skull cup with a vase of immortality, while his right hand is in the teaching mudra, gripping the five-pronged vajra. The katvanga staff, resting against his left shoulder, symbolizes his consort’s presence and his complete realization. Every detail—from the nine iron rings to the double vajra—is infused with sacred meaning, symbolizing his infinite wisdom, compassionate power, and unbreakable nature as the enlightened teacher of the Vajrayana tradition.
