Her right leg is extended, signifying her eagerness to help those in need. She holds a blue lotus flower in her left palm, indicating purity and spiritual awakening, and extends her right hand in the gesture of extreme giving (varada mudra). Note: Green Tara Thangka is an original painting from Enlightenment Studio, located at Boudha Stupa.
Green Tara, known as “Shyama Tara” in Tibetan, embodies the qualities of compassion and swift action. She is revered as a protector who swiftly responds to the prayers of those in need, offering support and healing in times of difficulty. According to Buddhist tradition, she emerged from the tears of Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion, and vowed to help all beings escape suffering. Her mantra, “Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha,” is chanted by practitioners seeking her guidance and protection. Green Tara’s vibrant energy encourages us to cultivate compassion, resilience, and a courageous heart, making her a beloved figure in Tibetan Buddhism.
