Exquisite Thousand Armed Avalokiteshvara Painting | Surrounded by Buddha, Tara & Bodhisattvas
The Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara Painting embodies divine compassion, symbolizing kindness in Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Hand-painted on durable cotton canvas, it allows precision with delicate strokes. Rich acrylic pigments add vibrancy, while genuine 24K gold highlights sacred symbols and halos, giving the artwork a luminous, ethereal quality. Layers of paint build gradually, following Tibetan tradition, ensuring spiritual authenticity and beauty. The gold enhances radiance and signifies purity and divine energy.
The central figure, 1000-Armed Avalokiteshvara, is revered as the Bodhisattva of Infinite Compassion, vowing to assist all beings across the six realms of existence. In this sacred form, his serene, compassionate face radiates peace, while his thousand hands, each bearing an all-seeing eye, symbolize his limitless ability to perceive and aid those in suffering. His primary hands are joined in prayer at the heart, while others hold various ritual implements representing the wisdom and skillful means of the enlightened mind.
Beneath Avalokiteshvara stand two attendant bodhisattvas, each embodying supportive virtues that reinforce his mission of compassion. At the upper sides are two graceful Taras—emanations of enlightened feminine energy—offering blessings of protection, healing, and swift aid. Amitabha Buddha, Avalokiteshvara’s spiritual guide and the source of his compassion, sits at the top of the scene, radiating tranquil authority. Together, they create a sacred assembly that unites compassion, wisdom, power, protection, and liberation—transforming this thangka into a complete mandala of enlightened energy.
