Gautama Buddha, also known as Shakyamuni, is the founder of Buddhism and a profound symbol of enlightenment and compassion. Born as a prince in ancient India, he chose to leave behind worldly life to pursue the path toward ending suffering and achieving awakening. In this thangka, he is shown in a meditative pose with the dhyana mudra, representing deep concentration and inner peace. Painted in the Karma Gadri style, the artwork beautifully fuses Tibetan and Chinese artistic influences, featuring gentle, flowing landscapes and harmonious compositions that highlight the Buddha’s serene and radiant presence, inviting viewers into a peaceful, contemplative state.
