Introduction of Tsongkhapa
Great Tibetan Buddhist Master Je Tsongkhapa, also known as Losang Dragpa, flourished in the 14th century. He further developed the Kadampa school of Buddhism, which Atisha had founded three centuries prior. Atisha's teachings were already well-known across Tibet; Tsongkhapa further clarified them, outlining a path to enlightenment that every individual could follow, regardless of their background. He emphasized the importance of moral discipline, a compassionate way of life, and profound, liberating insight, culminating in the ultimate goal of achieving Buddhahood for the benefit of all sentient beings. His followers, known as the Gelugpas, remain prominent in Tibetan Buddhism today.
