Gautam Buddha, also called Siddhartha Gautama or Shakyamuni Buddha, is honored as the founder of Buddhism and a symbol of awakening. Born a prince in Lumbini, Nepal, he left his royal life to pursue truth, compassion, and liberation from suffering. After extensive meditation and ascetic practices, he achieved enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya. His teachings, known as the Dharma, outline the path to inner peace, mindfulness, and escaping the cycle of rebirth.
