Divine Traditional Thangka of Shakyamuni Buddha | A Symbol of Enlightenment
This traditional Thangka of Shakyamuni Buddha is a carefully hand-painted masterpiece featuring 24K gold and natural stone colors. The artist has used the ancient Karma Gadri method, which imparts depth and a sense of spiritual presence through vivid, earthy paints made from natural minerals. The figure of Shakyamuni is illuminated by gold highlights that depict his heavenly essence and peaceful enlightenment, while the premium cotton canvas provides an ideal backdrop for the vibrant hues.
Shakyamuni Buddha, born Siddhartha Gautama around the 6th century BCE in modern Nepal, founded Buddhism. Known as the "Awakened One" for his enlightenment beneath the Bodhi tree, he taught that suffering, life's impermanence, and the path to liberation are understood through the Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path. With wisdom and compassion, he guided the overcoming of desires, attachments, and ignorance to attain peace, inner harmony, and liberation from rebirth (samsara). In this thangka, he is shown seated in a peaceful meditative pose, embodying deep reflection and inner tranquility. His right hand is in the bhumisparsha mudra, touching the ground to symbolize his great enlightenment, while his left hand rests in the dhyana mudra, signifying focus and meditation. His gentle movements and calm facial expression beautifully reflect the compassion and wisdom he shared with everyone, guiding us all toward spiritual freedom.
