27 Inch Vajrapani Bodhisattva Thangka Painting:
The name Vajrapani means "holder of the Vajra," representing the power aspect of complete enlightenment. In the Sutra tradition of Mahayana Buddhism, the Bodhisattva Vajrapani is portrayed as peaceful. In contrast, in the Vajrayana tradition, he is described in his most characteristic wrathful form and known as Guhyapati, which means 'the Lord of Secrets', because he is considered the primary recipient and protector of all the sacred Tantra texts, literature, and teachings derived directly from Buddha Shakyamuni.
Vairocana Buddha Thangka:
Vairocana Buddha, also known as Cosmic Buddha, is one of the five Dhyani Buddhas. Vairocana Buddha symbolizes wisdom, enlightenment, and ultimate truth in Buddhist philosophy and iconography.
In the Thangka, Vairocana is depicted seated in a meditation posture, with his hands forming symbolic mudras that convey specific teachings and aspects of enlightenment. His calm and divine being is a reflection of the profound understanding that goes beyond the bounds of everyday existence. The interdependence of all things and the realization of the Dharmadhatu wisdom, which embraces all of existence, are stressed in Vairocana's teachings.
